IIDEBATE IS RECRUITING A GRAPHIC DESIGNER

About the Job

Do you possess a keen eye for design?  Are you all about living a new experience in the Tunisian civil society organizations? If you’ve answered yes, then iiDebate is the place for you.

iiDebate is a non profit organization that aim to initiate every young person to become active citizen in their community. We are a team of young and motivated staff members who seek to create positive change in Tunisia. We are looking for a  Graphic Designer for a 12 months contract.

The Graphic Designer will report to the Communication Manager and the executive director as part of the communication team, producing outstanding and innovative creative across all channels of the organization. In this role, the primary objective is to grow and develop and maintain iiDebate brand through design. Responsibilities will range from creating print and digital marketing material, website and video graphics, product packaging to corporate branding pieces.

The designer will work closely with fellow communication team members, and collaborate with Marketing, Content and project coordinator team as needed. Designer must be able to clearly communicate with the communication officer and the project coordinators to ensure all projects are reviewed and approved, on schedule, and deadlines are met.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Bachelor, Master degree (NOT required if you have a good skills in design)
  • 1-2 years of related experience (Experience in non-profit NGOs on a volunteer bases is also accepted)
  • Passion for graphic design with strong portfolio (You should send your portfolio along with your application)
  • Team player, positive attitude, A MUST!
  • Ability to build and maintain strong positive working relationships to ensure that all design solutions meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Strong sense of typography, design, branding, layout, composition and color theory.
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of current Adobe Creative Suite; Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, AfterEffects and Adobe Acrobat
  • Good writing skills in English, French and Arabic (Prefered)

أطلق المعهد الدولي للمناظرات ضمن برنامجه “حديث قهاوي”  مسابقة يسعى من خلالها إلى تنظيم سلسلة من جلسات  “حديث قهاوي”  حول ظاهرة من الواقع التونسي من أجل الخروج بتقرير يلخص آراء الشباب المشارك حولها و الحلول المقترحة لمعالجتها

 وبعد نجاح الدورة الأولى و التي إمتدت من شهر جانفي إلى شهر أفريل 2017 حول موضوع “مقاومة التطرّف و العنف”, تنطلق خلال هذا الأسبوع الدورة الثانية من مسابقة برنامج  “حديث قهاوي”  بمشارك 10 فرق ممثلي 10 ولايات و هي  القصرين , قفصة , سوسة , المنستير , نابل , تونس , باجة , صفاقس , قابس و مدنين والتي ستمتد على 3 أشهر جوان جويلية و أوت 2017

يسعى المعهد الدولي للمناظرات من خلال هذه المسابقة إلى إعطاء الفرصة للشباب التونسي لإبداء رأيه و التفاعل مع القضايا و الظواهر في علاقة بواقعنا للخروج بحلول فعّالة وواقعيّة كذلك تحفيزهم على إنشاء مشاريع جمعياتيّة تعالج هذه الظواهر حيث سيخصص المعهد جائزة مالية لأفضل مشروع من أجل تطبيقه على أرض الواقع

حول برنامج حديث قهاوي 

أطلق المعهد الدولي للمناظرات برنامجه “حديث قهاوي”  في فيفري 2016 بهدف تنظيم حوارات و نقاشات مفتوحة في الفضاءات العامة لتطوير قدراتهم القياديّة و روح المبادرة لديهم من خلال منحهم الفضاء الملائم للتعبير بكل حرّية والعمل المشترك لإيجاد حلول مناسبة لمشاكل مناطقهم   وأحيائهم. و منذ إطلاق البرنامج انتظمت 305  جلسة “حديث قهاوي” في   18ولاية  بحضور أكثر من3057 مشارك لمناقشة مشاكل مختلفة تهم شباب الولايات المعنيّة

Cafe Talk competition second edition

This week, the second edition of the Cafe Talk competition will start off, with the participation of 10 teams representing 10 states: Kasserine, Gafsa, Sousse, Monastir, Nabeul, Tunisia, Ariana, Sfax, Gabes and Medenine, and will last for 3 months June, July and August 2017.

What is new in this edition is the partnership signed between IIDebate and the Tunivisions Foundation, which will allow the Tunivisions clubs in the respective states to participate exclusively in this edition

As for the theme of the second edition of the Cafe Talk competition, it will be about the phenomenon of “violence against women” in Tunisia due to the spread of this fact in our society and the failure of all parties to find solutions for the protection of women. So iiDebate and Café Talk team has choosen this phenomenon to be the topic of the second edition of the competition in order to come up with simple and realistic solutions where the 10 teams will organize 5 cafe talks each on the following topics:

Women in the political scene between absent and marginalized

– Rural women between marginalization and discrimination

– Violence against women inside  the family

– Role of legislators and civil society in reducing violence against women

– Women victims of sexual harassment in Public transportation

Then the  teams will come up with project ideas that represent their own solutions to the problem of “violence against women” in Tunisia and compete with the rest of the teams to win the prize money to finance their project.

iiDebate : the future representative of YFU in North Africa

Between 15th and 20th of March 2017, the iiDebate Executive member Houssem Kaabi represented the international institute of debate in the AFRICA’S Youth for Understanding Summit held in the city of Cape Town, in South Africa in order to prepare the strategic roadmap to make the YFU Africa Initiative happen.

Highlight of the AFRICA’S Youth for Understanding Summit

Cape Town, Hotel Strand, South Africa, 16 March 2017 — AFRICA’S Youth for Understanding Summit was a unique opportunity which featured representatives from multiple stakeholders and potentials partners of Youth For Understanding Organization in order to:

  • Identify partners for YFU for Africa Youth Leadership and launch of the YFU Africa Initiative
  • prepare a YFU Africa Contact Group based on 4 main Hubs
  • Agree for a common strategic roadmap in order to make the YFU Africa Initiative happen.

Stressing out the importance in investing in African youth, the amazing YFU international chair, Mr. Claudio ENGGIST along with Mr. Hans, Vice Chair of YFU South Africa, kick off the Summit. Presenting the main guests and the key objectives from the conference with detailed agenda.

With an outstanding and relevant introduction from the guests, the amazing Prof Mr. Brain FIGAJI, a passionate community leader who played an important role in the transformation of South Africa over the past twenty years, youth representative on the National Scout Council and serves as South Africa’s representative on the Executive Board of UNESCO, took the floor to start the first session “Fostering active global citizenship through youth exchange”, with very inspirational speech where he remind the key Mission of YFU (intercultural exchange tied with mutual respect mixed with social responsibility).

Followed shortly with the realistic diagnosis from Mr. Yousuf GABRU, South African National Commission for UNESCO, where he focus on the Social Developments Goals and presenting the framework of UNESCO and especially the forth one: Education. He divided new education vision into two main sections: Direct through global citizenship and Indirect through sustainable education demonstrating the key role of exchange in the both section.

The Second session, highlight the “Our ambitions for Africa’s youth as global citizens” at the ministerial level, with brave speech from honorable Dr Itah KANDJII-MURANGI, Minister Higher Education of Namibia and the outstanding and lovely Mrs. Bendu HOLDER ROGERS, National Director YFU Liberia and advisor for candidate for the Liberian presidential elections. Finishing the morning sessions with African Youth voice, Mme. Caroline Oshwaba, a representative of Action for Youth Development, A civil Society Organization based in Uganda.


The second part of the day was focused on brainstorming session using Business Canvas Model focusing on the key following points: partnershipactivitiesresourceschannels and funding. Divided in two sub-sections to answer these points, the interaction, debate and outcome were very productive and effective. The closing of the day was presenting this outcome along with the Chart which will be adopted by YFU international to initiate the African YFU initiative.

iiDebate the future representative of  YFU in North Africa

The International Institute of Debate presents an interesting partner to relay on in these levels and could be the hub for North Africa. Since the youth organization is working on engaging youth leaders to influence the positive change in their respective communities, the YFU initiative present a great opportunity which fit perfectly with IIDebate vision and objectives.

Coming Soon : iiDebate and American Corner “Magazine”

Very soon, an online Magazine will be launched in collaboration between iiDebate and the American Corner Tunis.

In order to know more about this Magazine, we had this interview with the responsible of the project, Riahi Imen, 20 years old, student and social activist.

«The idea has started when Celeste Koppe the current coordinator of the American Corner Tunis told me about planning for launching a magazine. Consequently , I thought about a collaboration between the AC and IIDebate as I volunteered to be responsible for this great project which will lead to combine with the AC’s and IID’s audience . We began with making a call for applicants to join us. The responses were highly interesting and we had to choose the best of the best that showed a great will to lead this project and idea to success.

We’re currently providing trainings to the team such as journalism’s ethics and writing skills… This magazine will be made by youth to youth. Our main goal is to show the beauty of Tunisia and encourage people to participate in social activism. We believe that youth are the key to development , for this reason , this magazine will be the best place where you can find all topics that matter to youth to enlighten their minds , touch their needs and concerns , suggest solutions and entertain their souls , as it’s a place where you’re welcome to express your mind. Because, we strongly believe that words and ideas can change the world.

This magazine will be launched online on the iiDebate website (iidebate.org) and a printed version as the next step of the project. Stay Tuned for more information about the magazine and next iiDebate projects.

Best iiDebate Trainer in March 2017 : Ameni Mathlouthi

The international Institute of Debate would like to give a shout out to Ameni Mathlouthi, the iiDebate Trainer for her dedication and hard work in delivering training sessions on the name of iiDebate association on February and March 2017 on the themes of Social Entrepreneurship, Debating, Communication and soft skills in the middle of the launching campaign of 4C :  Center of Career and Certification of the Competences.

Nabeul

Ameni delivered 4 training sessions starting on February 1st in Tunis – city of science and than in Sousse on February 7th in the ENISO (The engineering school of Sousse ) .In March , she delivered two other trainings , in Bizerte in March 15th and  in Nabeul in March 16 on the Closing ceremony of  4C ‘s national Tour. More than 150 students have benefit from those sessions in order to gain more information about the field of social entrepreneurship and soft skills.

Ameni Mathlouthi said ” 4C gave me such a tremendous opportunity to meet with ambitious university students with creative minds. Giving training sessions in four different regions of the country under different conditions as sometimes a large unexpected number of students join the session and together we spent great time and learned from each others”

Since February 1st, 2017, iiDebate participated in the 4C Tour (Center of Career and Certification of the Competences). During six weeks, iiDebate provided training sessions on social entrepreneurship and soft skills in the universities of Tunis, Sousse, Ksar Hlel, Monastir, sfax, Mahdia and Gafsa thanks to the efforts of our Trainers Ameni Mathlouthi, Ali Hamouda, Ala Eddine Boussemaa, Wijden Bel Arbi and Hadyl Saker.

Through this Article, we want to thank all the iiDebate trainers and Alumni who delivered trainings and workshops for the Tunisian Youth in all Tunisia on the name of iiDebate.

Cafe Talk invading the Radio in Tunisia

Since February and March 2017, the Cafe Talk program has invaded the Radio in all around the country, Tunisia, in order to communicate about the program and gather Tunisian youth around it.

During those two months, Cafe Talk Staff in Tunis and 9 regional representatives of the program have made a great effort in contacting journalists and media institutions in order to promote the Cafe Talk Competition, organized by iiDebate, in the aim of preventing violent extremism.

15 radio appearances were held between February and March in 13 different radio programs in 10 different regions. The international institute of Debate would like to thank all the representatives of Cafe Talk for the great effort they put on spreading the word about the program and the competitions.
